This is the short version of my pattern for the 3 part infinity scarf, for more details read my blog posts about this pattern here and here.

Cast on 48 stitches and knit two rows.

k: Knit
p: Purl
k2tog: knit 2 together
ssk: slip slip knit
p2tog: purl 2 together
p2togtbl: purl 2 together through the back loops
c16f: cable 16 forward

Part 1 (basket weave)
In mustard:
R1 – R4: sl1, k3, *p4, k4 then repeat from * until the last 4 stitches, p4
R5 – R8: sl1, p3, *k4, p4 then repeat from * until the last 4 stitches, k4
Repeat rows 1 to 8 until you are almost out of yarn, finishing at either a R4 or R8.

Transition to part 2
In mustard (or pink if you don’t have enough mustard):
R1: sl1, knit
R2: sl1, k6, m1, *k5, m1, repeat from * until you have 6 stitches left, k6 (56 st)

Part 2 (cables)
In pink:
R1: sl1, knit.
R2 (WS): sl1, k4, p5, k10, p16, k10, p5, k5
R3 (RS): sl1, knit
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the 10th row.
Cable row: sl1, k19, c16f, k20
Repeat rows 2 and 3, making a cable row on the 30th, 50th, 70th, 90th etc. rows (20 rows between cables)
Finish 10 rows after the last cable (on the WS)

Transition to part 3
In pink (or teal)
R1: sl1, knit
R2: sl1, k5, k2tog, *k4, k2tog, repeat from * until you have 6 stitches left, k6 (48 st)

Part 3 (lace)
Follow the chart, repeating the part in red 3 times.

Finishing
Block the finished scarf and then join the two short ends to make a loop (infinity) scarf.
