Yarn Dyeing + Sock Knitting
Yarn dyeing + sock knitting
What could be better than dyeing your own yarn and then knitting it up into something amazing!
Book two classes at once using this combo class and save 15%!
Class 1: Yarn dyeing
In the first class you will dye your own yarn using acid dye and vinegar. We will hand paint our yarn making some gorgeous multi-coloured unique yarn.
You can leave your yarn to dry at the Craft Room, and prior to the sock class we will wind it up into a ball ready for knitting. Your yarn will need a few days to dry, so we advise you to leave a week between the dyeing class and the start of sock knitting. This class includes 2 skeins of yarn – one should be sock weight for your socks in part 2. The second skein can be anything you like since you will only need one skein for a pair of socks. We recommend that you wear old clothing or bring an apron to prevent splashes of dye – we will provide gloves and all other materials.
Class 2, 3 and 4: Sock knitting
In the second part we will knit our yarn into a pair of socks! We need three sessions to complete all the sock techniques – so please be sure to book a time for “sock 1” “sock 2” and “sock 3” classes. We will use double pointed needles and learn all about gussets, heel flaps and turns, and toes and all the things you need for a great pair of socks. This class includes a multi-size sock pattern and bamboo double pointed needles. You must be able to knit and purl confidently for this class, but no other pre-requisites are necessary.
IMPORTANT notes due to COVID-19:
All classes currently only have one student – so you can’t currently book more than one place at a class.
For all our safety procedures regarding COVID-19 please see the terms and conditions here.
How to book this class:
Booking a class is a two step process – you need to book a time slot for each class (yarn dyeing and three sock sessions) – we recommend you leave a week between the each date – and then make the payment. So that you can be directed through the process we recommend that you first add the class to the basket and then search for a time slot.
Nothing will be finalised until you checkout and pay – it is always possible to remove the class from the basket if you can’t find a suitable time.
Appointments won’t be valid until the payment is received.
