Description

We will learn everything you need to know about knitting socks: knitting in the round, heel flaps and heel turns, gussets, foot and toes! In this three part course we cover it all. We’ll knit our socks with double pointed needles from the top down.

We provide a multi-size sock pattern, a set of bamboo double pointed needles and a ball of sock yarn to knit a pair of calf length socks – you can choose from a variety of colours.

This is a 3 part course and you need to attend all three sessions to complete the sock techniques.
Class 1: we will learn how to use double pointed needles (dpns), make a long tail cast on and learn to knit in the round.
Class 2: we will learn how to turn the heel of the sock and knit the gusset
Class 3: we will finish the foot, shape the toes and finish with Kitchener stitch to graft the toes together.
There will be homework between the classes to knit the leg and the foot of the sock so please leave adequate time between them (recommended: a week between each class).

You need to bring:
Nothing! This class includes a multi-size sock pattern, bamboo double pointed needles and a choice of sock yarn.

Who is the class suitable for?
You must be able to knit and purl confidently for this class, but no other pre-requisites are necessary.

How to book?
Booking the course is a two step process – you need to book a time slot for each of the three sessions (in the appointment booking look for a time for “sock 1”  “sock 2” and “sock 3” classes) – we recommend you leave a week between each of the classes – and then also make the payment. So that you can be directed through the process first add the course to the basket by clicking the button above and then search for the times via the link. Nothing will be finalised until you checkout and pay – it is always possible to remove the class from the basket if you can’t find a suitable time. Appointments won’t be valid until the payment is received.
